Katie and Chris's Glamorous Rosecliff Mansion Wedding Featured on Style Me Pretty

While you might recognize the bride as one half of The DC Darlings blogging duo, Katie stepped into the role of ‘bride’ this past October as she wed her love, Chris, at the breathtaking Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. Everything about their New England wedding defined timeless elegance, thanks in large part to Katie’s vision for a modern fairytale event designed with an impossibly romantic style.

Katie and Chris first met as students in college in Connecticut when they were introduced through mutual friends. Fast forward through Katie’s college transfer, several years of long-distance dating, and many trips made between D.C. and Boston, the couple eventually found themselves in Paris in May 2017, where Chris got on bended knee just outside the Louvre.

As they embarked on planning their wedding day, Katie and Chris knew Newport’s Rosecliff Mansion was the perfect choice. Inspired by the royal weddings of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, Katie envisioned a day dressed head-to-toe in white and green florals, with plenty of champagne, glitz, and glamour at every turn. They worked alongside a strong team of vendors to bring their vision to life, with thoughtful details like their incredibly stylish tablescapes and custom-designed crest incorporated into the stationery elements throughout the event.

The couple’s beloved pets, an orange Maine Coon cat called Harry Winson and a ginger Pomeranian known as Brady, both played an important role in the wedding thanks to the custom watercolor of the animals created by artist, Arabella June, and their signature cocktails dubbed "The Winston" and "The Brady.”

The day of the wedding proved to be everything Katie and Chris had imagined, with a cotton candy-colored sky adding an incredible air of romance to their outdoor ceremony. Katie’s Monique Lhuillier dress stunned as she was escorted down the aisle by both her parents, surrounded by everyone she and Chris love most.

Following the ceremony, the couple’s guests were welcomed inside the mansion for an evening of dinner, dancing and celebration. Glowing candles were placed throughout the space for a warm and intimate atmosphere, with festivities—including a late-night Dominos pizza station!—carrying the excitement well into the early morning hours.
